Protein: Why It's the King of Fitness and Bodybuilding Supplements
It's true that diet and exercise are great ways to get in shape, and the most essential. To have the body you want, you MUST have a proper diet and exercise routine. Supplements should be part of anyones fitness program, they are exactly what they claim to be. They supplement what your already doing to boost your gains. The most important supplement to have in your program is by far protein. Here's how it is the King of all Supplements, though often looked over. Protein Protein PROTEIN!! Protein is probably the most essential weapon in your arsenal of supplements. When you are training or working out, your causing your muscles to tear. These tears are microscopic but tears none-the-less. The body will repair these torn muscles back to the way they were, and then build new muscle tissue over it to protect it from your next workout. Thats why you must add weight to your exercises or switch your rep ranges etc. Your body uses Amino Acids to repair torn muscles. Protein is made of millions of strands of amino acids and when the body is able to break down protein, it will use these amino's to repair muscle damage. Without enough protein in your diet, your body may turn to muscle you already have and break down amino acids in your muscle. Its very important to be taking in enough protein throughout the day to keep a positive balance of amino acids. The recommended protein intake is about 1-5 grams of protein for each pound of bodyweight. So a 200lbs man would be taking in 300g of protein each day. Through eating and supplementing.
